From market return to interest on policyholders’ savings

A pension product with average interest rate will ensure a stable return on your pension savings throughout the entire savings period. The interest rate is fixed by Nordea Liv & Pension based on the returns obtained over the years, buffer sizes and the surplus and deficit arising from the insurance cover.

1) Including costs in connection with the management of customers’ share of investment assets, brokerage, commissions and other transaction costs. Investment costs only relate to the share of investment assets consisting of customer funds.

2) The adjustment arises because the interest on policyholders’ savings is calculated as a percentage of customer savings, whereas the investment return etc for the year is calculated on the basis of the market value of net assets.

Glossary

A pension product with average interest rate will ensure a stable return on your pension savings throughout the entire savings period. The interest rate is fixed by Nordea Liv & Pension based on the returns obtained over the years, buffer sizes and the surplus and deficit arising from the insurance cover.

Investment return for the year (customer funds), gross

This is the gross investment return for the year on all customer funds invested in the pension product with average interest rate. Customer funds are all the contributions paid into Nordea Liv & Pension’s products with average interest rate.

Investment costs

These costs cover transaction costs, investment management and payments to Danish and international investment managers with whom we invest.

Investment return for the year (customer funds)

This is the net return for the year on all customer funds invested in the pension product with average interest rate.

Tax on pension returns

Tax on pension returns is paid on the return that accrues to customer funds and is settled annually. The tax is paid to the Danish state.

Transfer to/from collective bonus potential etc

The collective bonus potential is the buffer for customer funds invested in the pension product with average interest rate. Every year Nordea Liv & Pension uses the buffers to balance good/bad returns, ensuring stable interest on policyholders’ savings throughout the term of the pension scheme. The buffers also take into account a number other parameters such as cost and risk results.

Risk allowance

The risk allowance is the return that the owners of Nordea Liv & Pension receive in return for making equity capital available.

Cost and risk results

The cost result is the surplus or deficit arising when calculating the costs of managing the pension schemes. The amount is balanced via the buffers. The same applies to the risk result. Here the difference arises if more or fewer people than anticipated make use of their insurance cover for illness or death.
