Certain critical illnesses – receive a tax-free disbursement if you become critically ill

If you become seriously ill, the foundation on which your life as well as your family’s lives are built will become insecure. By choosing the insurance certain critical illnesses you will be able to pay the extra costs that may be connected to the illness or choose to make your life easier during a difficult time.

You will receive:

  • Increased financial security for you and your family
  • A cash payment if you become seriously ill – a maximum sum of DKK 645,000 (in 2016)
  • Full disposal – you will decide what to do with the money
  • Possibility of establishing this insurance for your children

If you are diagnosed with a critical illness, the Danish Health Authority will forward a letter to you. If you have not contacted us already, it will be a good idea to do it now. We will find out if your illness is covered by your insurance, and we will then help you to receive the disbursement.

It is of no consequence to the disbursement if you lose your ability to work or not.

Before you can establish the insurance, we will ask you for your health details.

The disbursement is tax-free and the contributions are not tax-deductible.

For children

For children

It is also possible to establish certain critical illnesses for your children, providing your family with financial help during a difficult time.

The insurance will cover your children automatically until they reach the age of 24. Your spouse’s/cohabitee’s children can also be covered.

The insurance will be disbursed directly to you.

Children are covered for the same illnesses as the adults. Children need not submit health details to establish the insurance.

Certain critical illnesses for children can be purchased by employers to the corporate pension schemes established after 1 February 2016.

The following illnesses can be covered:

  • Most forms of malignant cancer diseases
  • Coronary thrombosis
  • Bypass surgery cases of sufferings in the coronary arteries or percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of the coronary arteries
  • Heart valve surgery
  • Brain haemorrhage/brain thrombosis (apoplexy)
  • Sacculate aneurysm of the brain arteries (intra­cranial sacculate aneurysm)
  • Certain benign tumours in the brain and the spi­nal cord
  • Major organ transplants (heart, lungs or liver)
  • Renal failure
  • Disseminated sclerosis
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Muscular atrophy
  • HIV infection as a result of blood transfusion or caused by occupational transmission
  • AIDS
  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Parkinson’s disease (paralysis agitans)
  • Disease of the aorta (disease of the great artery)
  • Sequelae to encephalitis or meningitis
  • Sequelae to Borrelia infection (TBE) in the nervous system due to tick bite
  • Incurable disease with short life expectancy (terminal cover)
  • Chronic heart failure with severe symptoms when resting
  • Third degree burns, corrosion burns or frostbites
  • Blood clot in the lung – in a severe degree and need of surgery
  • Creutzfeldt-Jakobs disease (CJD)

When you have been diagnosed with an illness that is covered by your insurance, the cover for certain critical illnesses will disburse a cash payment.
